2015-2016 Policies & Procedures
_____ General Information | Weekly private lessons are offered in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions, depending on the student’s age/level.
_____ Practice and Instrument | Piano students are expected to practice daily on a well-maintained acoustic piano or keyboard. Acoustic pianos should be tuned once a year. Vocal students are expected to practice at least three times per week.
_____ Materials | Students are recommended to use a dedicated bag to carry books to and from lessons. The student will be given an assignment notebook at their first lesson, which will be used keep track lesson notes. The parents are expected to buy all required materials.
_____ Makeup Lessons | No refunds or credits will be given for missed or cancelled lessons. Makeup lessons are not available. Consistent instruction is essential to musical progress. In the event of a missed lesson, please call in advance. On some occasions, lessons can be switched with other students if the teacher knows ahead of time. If the instructor misses a lesson due to illness or some unforeseen event, you will not be charged and will have credit issued to your account.
_____ Discontinuing Lessons | Private students must notify the teacher two weeks in advance if they are discontinuing lessons.
_____ Parent Participation | Parents are encouraged to be supportive and active participants in practice at home. Parents are also encouraged to attend and quietly observe lessons at least once a month.
_____ Communication | There are many great ways to stay informed regarding studio news and events!
· Website: Students and parents can log in to the student portal through the website to access information about lessons and tuition.
· Facebook Page: Students and parents are welcome to join the studio's Facebook page. "Liking" this page allows students to interact with the teacher and other students while maintaining the privacy of each student's Facebook profile.
The best way to contact the teacher is via email, which will be promptly returned with an email reply or phone call. Phone calls are also welcome, especially on weeknights between 7pm and 10pm. The teacher always welcomes emails or text messages from students during the week if they have questions regarding their repertoire or other matters.
